The NSF Health Sciences Division offers training and education, consulting, auditing, GMP and GLP testing, certification, R&D, and regulatory guidance for the pharmaceutical, medical device and dietary supplement industries throughout the product lifecycle. The division also supplies pharmaceutical secondary reference standards, traceable to USP and EP standards. NSF wrote the only accredited American National Standard (NSF/ANSI 173) that verifies the health and safety of dietary supplements and also tests and certifies products to this standard. Nutritional Grade: Vitamins you find at your local store. There is no real regulation of these and, for example, you may not be getting the 1000mg of vitamin C that they claim. The purity is questionable and the actual vitamin is in a form that is not very bio-available. You can find nutritional grade vitamin supplements at stores such as Central Market and Whole Foods.

Medical Grade: A somewhat purer vitamin. Its bio-availability is better than nutritional grade; however no outside source has evaluated the product and validated its contents.

Pharmaceutical Grade: The best vitamin you can buy. For a company to claim this outside accredited lab has evaluated the supplement and confirmed they are the purest and most bio-available. These vitamins have the highest bio-availability.
